In news and current events today, two Insonesians have taken to the streets dressed as ghosts. Their goal is to scare their neighbors who they say hadn’t been taking COVID-19 & physical distancing seriously. The project first started in April, on commission from the local government. Participants say the project initially backfired because the ghosts were too friendly. Dozens of people would come out of their homes to see the ghosts as they passed by. But since then they have pivot to ‘pocong,’ a scarier form of ghost known in local mythology to be the soul of a dead person trapped in its shroud. The national government has yet to institute mandated lockdowns  and is instead encouraging social distancing among residents.
